We don't even know how to put in words how happy were are to have Jennifer Rose in our arms! What a very emotional and amazing day! The babies were brought to Nanchang today after a 3-4 hour bus ride from the orphanage. At around 5 p.m. local time, we were able to meet the caregivers and the babies and have pictures taken with them. It is difficult to describe what a wonderful moment it was to be holding Jennifer Rose and have her snuggle up against Rachel. She loved Rachel's necklace and seemed content to be held for a long time. J also got a turn to hold her and it was amazing.
Of the 3 babies, Jennifer is the most petite. We kind of thought the pictures that we received were deceiving. We were all worried that we were buying clothes that were too small-- turns out, they are probably too big. Although she is petite, she seems healthy and happy and she is beautiful.
Once we got back to the hotel, Jennifer was hungry for a bottle. Etu and Joseph took care of getting that ready. Then we played with her for a little while-- she seemed to really enjoy playing with us and we'll have to go out and buy some more toys for her! Joseph changed his first diaper and Jennifer was very patient while he fumbled around with it.
After a while we gave her a bath (with the help Etu). She seemed to like it and she especially liked when R dried her off with the big towel. Then she started rubbing her eyes and after a few more minutes she was asleep. She is asleep now in her crib. We keep sneaking peaks at her just to make sure it's not a dream.
Tomorrow is more paperwork, etc. We have posted some photos - will post a second batch shortly. We are in love!

we don't think you'll get much sleep tonight. the urge to kept peeking at jennifer rose while she sleeps will be hard to suppress.

Dear Jennifer Rose,
Tonight you are in the arms of your Mom and Dad for the first time. This is a magic moment for them, one they have been waiting for for a long time. We, your grandma and grandpa have also been waiting for you.
When grandma Theedie sees you, she will most likely sing songs and little poems to you. She can't help it because she used to sing songs and poems to little children in the library where she worked. Maybe she will sing "Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star." Maybe she will sing some songs that her own mother sang to her when she was a little girl just like you. She later sang these to her own little babies, your daddy and uncle Ben, when they were small. Some of these songs were in her own mom's language from a far away country. Theedie learned these songs because of the sounds of love in them. Soon you will learn lots of words in English, the language of all of our love for you.
And grandpa Oskie, he will teach you things. When you are a little older, he will tell you about shapes and numbers, and how to make things that whirl and move. Grandpa loves to teach, and he is a great teacher.
So hello, hello dear Jennifer Rose.
All if our love, and hugs also for your mom and dad who are bringing you home.

Our flight from Kennedy Airport arrives around noon on the 16th and we depart for Beijing at 4:00.
